What I look for in affiliate programs
Transparent and accurate revenue calculation is in everyone’s interest, yet AGD audit results consistently show that effective revenue figures have been trending downward year on year. This isn’t limited to newly launched or recently audited programs. Several long-standing partnerships that used to be at the top of the audit leaderboard with almost perfect scores have introduced deductions and revised terms since then that steadily erode affiliate earnings. These shifts don’t always happen overnight, which means they can go unnoticed for longer than they should.
Beyond shrinking revenue share margins and the industry’s broader migration towards different solutions, payment reliability has become an increasing concern. Programs such as LVBet Partners and Betterplay have shown recurring delays β a pattern also visible across affiliate forums, where most topics now centre on non-payment and communication breakdowns. Throughout this time, most of our current partners have remained responsive, even when the answers weren’t what we were hoping to hear.
Why quota-free programs matter β no activity requirements
As an affiliate committed to the SEO route, your traffic is always at the mercy of the latest algorithm update β and those updates can be unforgiving. For smaller affiliates in particular, long-term revenue share retention provides a safety net. Programs that we had almost given up on have surprised us more than once by quietly generating income during periods when newer partnerships weren’t performing.
The flip side is equally real, though. It is frustrating to watch programs that we haven’t actively promoted in years accumulate deposits while returning next to nothing in revenue share. Quota-based structures not only penalise inactivity, regardless of existing referrals, but also tie you to a program that you may not be able to promote due to factors beyond your control.
This single factor has been one of the primary reasons behind our decision not to expand into more affiliate programs. Fortunately, AGD also reviews terms, so a quick scan is usually enough to identify any quota clauses in the fine print before committing to a partnership.
